A Diploma of Counselling from the Academy is the ideal platform for your new career as a Counsellor.

Whether your goal is to work with other mental health specialists in the private or public sector, to establish your own Counselling practice or to bring additional Counselling expertise to your current role, this highly practical, competency-based Diploma will develop your ability to offer appropriate, helpful advice and assistance that will guide them through life.

Counselling Courses OnlineThe 14 core modules develop the communication skills and knowledge of Counselling therapies and case management required to perform general Counselling work while our 3 selected electives will provide you with a living portfolio for you to use and maintain into your new career as a Counsellor. You are required to attend four mandatory face to face workshops which are held in most of our capital cities to complete the course.

The course is structured around study on a part time basis over the 12 month period, and is up to the individual how much study they do each day however we recommended around two hours daily.

Students also have unlimited email communication with their online trainer should they experience any difficulties or just want to clarify a question!  Course participants will need to have access to computing equipment, internet access and a work environment or a simulated work environment. (Home office acceptable) to complete this course.

Students will be assessed according to Competency Based Assessment.

Competency Based Training is aimed at developing specific learning outcomes that reflect the standardised workplace competencies of a given Industry skill area.Competency Based Assessment is the manner by which competency is recognised as being attained. It determines if an individual’s workplace performance matches the workplace standard for competency. Competency based marks are either competent (C) or not yet competent (NYC). 

Students have the right to access their own student records and records of course progress and participation. Students are required to contact head office for procedures for accessing information.
